GTA 5 price cut and new DLC launched ahead of Valentine's Day
Rockstar North, developer of GTA games, has slashed the price of GTA 5 on the PlayStation Store. The company has also introduced a new Valentine's Day special DLC, reports IGN.
GTA 5 fans, especially Playstation 4 users, can now purchase the title at a discount of 20%-30%. The offer will be available until 17 February or as long as stocks are available. The game title is available at Rockstar Warehouse, Sony Playstation online store, Amazon, Target, Best Buy, Walmart, Gamestop, Toys "R" Us and other sites.
Earlier, Rockstar introduced new pricing for its GTA trilogy that included GTA 3, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas games on the PS4 PlayStation Store.
It also released a new DLC Be My Valentine DLC. It is a free upgrade for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 users. The live update includes a new collection of clothes for men and women, a brand new car (the Albany Roosevelt Valor limousine is available at Legendary Motorsport); a new Gusenberg Sweeper machine gun and a new adversary mode — Till Death Do Us.
This comes as a pleasant surprise for gamers since the last Valentine special DLC was only in 2014. It released "The Valentine's Day Massacre Special", but last year's Valentine Day was shorn of lustre.
GTA has been among the highest grossing franchise games. By last week, it had shipped over 60 million copies of GTA 5 across all five platforms. In just first three days of its release, it generated over $1bn (€880mn) in revenue. The promotional pricing and new DLC also could be the hook to keep gamers engaged since it is reportedly postponing the release of GTA 6 beyond 2018, following the exit of GTA studio head Leslie Benzies.
Last month, the New York-based gaming major introduced a new update to GTA 5 indicating future DLC cars and more car customisation upgrades at the Benny's Original Motorworks.
