GTA 5 Online: Casino to open on 10 June as part of Ill-Gotten Gains DLC update?
Rockstar may finally open the doors to one of GTA Online's casinos this week, according to fan theorists who have linked the impending Ill-Gotten Gains downloaded content (DLC) to the anniversary of the opening of a casino that inspired one of the game's buildings.
The GTA Online Ill-Gotten Gains Part 1 DLC will be released on Wednesday 10 June. This rang a few alarm bells with fans given that Rockstar typically releases its updates on Tuesdays.
This prompted YouTuber MrBossFTW to do some research. He found a link between the DLC's release date and the opening of the Hollywood Park Racetrack – which opened 10 June 1938. That real-world building served as the inspiration for GTA 5's Vinewood Racetrack, which includes a casino.
The casino has been part of the game since its initial release in 2013, but has remained locked off to players pending a future update. Bolingbroke Penitentiary was another area that remained off limits for a long time, prior to this year's Heists update that included a mission set in the prison.
Rockstar has never made any promises to open a casino up in GTA 5 or its online counterpart, but its presence was noticed instantly by players. In 2004's GTA: San Andreas, Rockstar included casinos in its Las Vegas-inspired Las Venturas city, so it would be ground trodden before by the developers.
Given the lack of any promises the date could well just be a coincidence, or Rockstar having fun at the expense of their most ardent fans. We will find out when Ill-Gotten Gains rolls out on 10 June.
