GTA 5 Online DLC: Independence Day 2.0 or Ill-Gotten Gains (Part 2) - What's next?
Rockstar Games is yet to announce the release date for the upcoming second instalment of Ill-Gotten Gains DLC for GTA Online, while the internet is already abuzz with widespread speculation about what could possibly be the next DLC update and what new features could be added into the second part of Ill-Gotten Gains DLC.
Meanwhile, renowned YouTuber MrBossFTW (aka Ross) further speculates if the summer season could possibly see the arrival of Independence Day DLC (2.0), ahead of the highly-anticipated Ill-Gotten Gains DLC - Part 2.
It should be noted that the first edition of Independence Day DLC in 2014 had introduced the sovereign monster truck and a couple of new weapons for GTA Online, while the GTA community is once again expecting a similar offering from Rockstar.
Nevertheless, a recent poll regarding the next desirable DLC update, (conducted by Ross on Twitter) has clearly suggested a mixed bag of reactions from GTA fans.
Although some fans have appreciated the idea of recycling the Independence Day DLC content with the addition of a couple of new weapons and vehicles, the majority still prefer to see a new DLC update like the Ill-Gotten Gains DLC - Part 2.
The catch here is that Rockstar has only announced that the second part of the Ill-Gotten Gains DLC would be coming in summer, which means anytime between 21 June and 23 September as this period represents the summer season in the US.
In other words, Rockstar has reserved a time period of three to four months for the launch of the next update for the Ill-Gotten Gains DLC.
However, the general perception of the GTA community hints that Rockstar might be rolling out the second instalment of Ill-Gotten Gains DLC sometime in July, while Ross strongly believes that Part 2 of the DLC is likely to be released in the latter part of the summer season or during August-September.
Further strengthening his claim about a delayed summer release for the Ill-Gotten Gains DLC Part 2, Ross asserts that an Independence Day DLC special is likely to come out in July and hence Rockstar would likely take a break between two big DLC releases this summer.
In other words, Rockstar is unlikely to release both Independence Day DLC special and Ill-Gotten Gains DLC (Part 2) in the same month (July). Consequently, either the Independence Day DLC will be taken off the release schedule or Part 2 of Ill-Gotten Gains DLC will be pushed back to an August or September release.
