GTA 5: Rockstar's Plans for Xbox One and PS4 Versions 'Will Exceed Expectations'
The Xbox One and PS4 version of GTA 5 will exceed the expectations of fans, according to Take Two Interactive boss Strauss Zelnick. "Nothing but the best will satisfy Rockstar", he told MCV.
"They want to blow consumers away," Zelnick continued. "Whatever the expectation is, they want to exceed it. When you see GTA 5 on next-gen, I want you to tell me whether it is or isn't better than your expectation. I can guarantee it will be better."
This indicates that Rockstar has a lot of exceptionally solid content in store for GTA 5 on next-gen consoles. This could also mean that the developer will save best for last, meaning that we might not see the Heists DLC for the game until it comes out on next-gen.
Apart from this, if Rockstar is working on content for GTA 5 next-gen that could blow our socks off, could it mean that the developer isn't keen on offering high quality content to gamers on PS3 and Xbox 360 anymore? The last two updates for GTA 5 seem to suggest this. Both 1.14 and 1.15 gave gamers little more than a few new cars, clothes and weapons.
The game has sold in excess of 34 million copies for current generation consoles, making it one of the most successful video game titles of all time. However, Zelnick has greater ambitions for the title.
"One way to look at it is that 34m copies have been sold, but there's 7bn people on Earth. So we have over 6.9bn people left to address," he added.
Rumours have it that Rockstar is working on a Flight school DLC for GTA 5 Update 1.16. You can read more about that here.
