Gunners Regain Firepower: Arsenal-Aston Villa 2-1 (PHOTOS)
The Gunners are back to their winning ways.
A resurgent Arsenal defeated Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park on Wednesday night.
Robin van Persie set the ball rolling by tapping home a penalty on 17 minutes, marking his 34th Premier League goal of the calendar year. Marc Albrighton scored the lone goal for Villa on 54 minutes, and it went on to become the 20,000th goal of the Barclays Premier League. The Villa winger, in fact, capitalised on a defensive error by Per Mertesacker to slot past Wojciech Szczesny. But it was not enough to secure a victory for his side.
Yossi Benayoun grabbed a late winner (87 minutes) for the visitors three minutes from time.
Villa, in fact, came up with a remarkable performance overall, but ended up with a fourth home defeat in five matches.
