Halle Berry pens touching eulogy to cat Playdough who died of brain cancer
The actress posted a photo of the 16-year-old pet with her son Maceo on Instagram.
Losing a pet can be a pretty heartbreaking experience, and Halle Berry decided to express her loss in a touching tribute on Instagram.
The actor posted an photo, on 12 May, of her cat Playdough with her three-year-old son Maceo and herself, alongside a sweet message mourning the loss.
"Yesterday my heart broke as we had to put our beloved Playdough to rest due to brain cancer," she wrote. "This little guy lit up our lives and brought us joy every day for 16 years! While his loss is tough for all of us, especially my children, it's an inevitable part of life."
The Oscar-winning actress described the close relationship her son and daughter Nahla, 9, shared with their pet feline. "Playdough and Maceo were pals. Every morning they had b'fast together. Playdough his kibble and Maceo his Cheerios... Side by side... On the floor together," she continued. "The bond my kids shared with Playdough was unique and special and through it, they learned compassion and kindness and the importance of loving and caring for life's sweetest creatures.
"Yesterday Playdough reminded us all that it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all! We will miss him!"
Berry adopted the four-legged companion when she was filming Catwoman back in 2004. A total of 60 cats were rescued by producers from animal shelters and used while shooting the movie.
