Hannibal season 3 premiere synopsis: Will Lecter kill Bedelia in Antipasto?
The synopsis of the premiere episode of Hannibal season 3 has been released by NBC network.
While fans are eagerly waiting to learn more about Dr Hannibal Lecter and his murderous journey in the super-hit psycho thriller, the official description for the first episode titled Antipasto, teases that the serial killer psychiatrist will escape to Europe with his doctor by adopting a pseudo name.
The synopsis of the premiere episode reads: "Having successfully escaped FBI capture, Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) is moving through the European landscape, with Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) in tow. But Dr Lecter's old habits and opulent tastes are still on display as he settles into a new identity and life in Florence, Italy, working at the Palazzo Capponi museum. Glimpses into the past help inform his relationship with Bedelia, a pairing not clearly defined as friend or foe."
Show creator Brain Fuller has tweeted a picture of Anderson and captioned it 'Bride of Hannibal'.
The second and third episodes of NBC's hit series are titled Primavera and Secondo.
In the season 2 finale, the killer doctor flees to France along with his psychiatrist Dr Bedelia Du Maurier, after fatally stabbing the FBI agent.
The premiere episode of the upcoming season will focus on the odd love story between Lecter and Bedelia as they settle in Florence as husband and wife.
However, their attraction towards each other appears to be more out of necessity rather than anything substantial. This is quite evident from the synopsis and the official promo.
In the promo of the premiere episode, the serial killer doctor asks Bedelia, "You are optimistic that I won't kill you," to which the psychiatrist answers, "Not entirely." This has led fans to speculate that Hannibal may kill his only loyal accomplice in order to satisfy his urge for murder.
On the other hand, FBI agent Graham, who recovers from the near-fatal stab wounds he sustained in the season 2 finale, will go to France in search of Lecter and his aide.
The first three episodes of season 3 will be directed by Vincenzo Natali and will premiere on 4 June on NBC. The seventh episode is titled Digestivo and is touted as the best one of the season.
