Harrison Ford Turns 70!

Harrison Ford, American film actor and producer, turned 70 on 13 July 2012.

The actor, who played 'Hans Solo' in the original "Star Wars" trilogy, was ranked No. 1 in Empire's "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" list of 1997. Other than his role in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, the one thing he is always known for is his ear piercing.

"We all had the same phones and watches. But I realized I didn't have an earring like they did," Ford told to the People Magazine about two old buddies-singer Jimmy Buffett and 60 Minutes correspondent Ed Bradley.

Ford, born in Chicago, is very close to nature.

"There's nothing better than seeing a herd of elk right outside the window of my house in Wyoming. My land gives me an opportunity to be close to nature, and I find spiritual solace in nature, contemplating our species in the context of the natural world. The property is much the same as it was 150 years ago. It's in the mountains and had never been developed when I bought it. Apart from the home and outbuildings, I've kept it pretty much in that state. I know that the property will be there for as long as I live and well after that in the hands of my children," IMDB quoted Ford as saying.

The actor is also known for his dedication and hard work.

"Harrison takes his work very seriously and expects everyone to do the same," Ford's friend James Earl Jones told the People magazine.

Ford has received many awards and recognitions including the Academy Award for the Best Actor and BAFTA awards. In 2003, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2000.

Harrison Ford has 5 children from three marriages and is currently married to actress Calista Flockhart.
