Lee Nolan is due to appear at Bury Magistrates' Court charged with murdering a woman and dumping her body in the boot of a car in Heywood, near Rochdale.

The 48 year old, of Heywood, was arrested after Greater Manchester Police were tipped off on Thursday (13 August) that a corpse was in a blue Nissan NX100.

Officers spotted the car on Friday afternoon and gave chase before the car was abandoned. Two men – a 48 year old and a 70 year old – were apprehended. After the body was found in the boot both were arrested on suspicion of murder. The 70-year-old male has since been released without charge and faces no further action, police have confirmed. Nolan was remanded in custody and will appear in court today (17 August).
