'Hideous': Ivanka Trump ruthlessly mocked over her 'green disaster' dress during India summit
The First daughter was decked in a multicoloured jacquard midi dress by Erdem during the event.
Ivanka Trump's sartorial choices have been dominated by mid-length hem dresses and outrageous colours during her visit to the southern Indian city of Hyderabad for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017.
The First daughter, who is co-hosting the summit with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, landed in the city on Monday (27 November) in a Tory Burch jacket – a look which has been deemed as "subtle yet classy". However, for the official meeting, Ivanka changed into a jacquard midi dress by Erdem, embellished mainly with bold pink and yellow motifs.
Despite being known for her sophisticated looks, Ivanka seems to have failed to create the desired impression. In fact her pleated $3,550 (£2,639) green outfit was branded by fashion watchers on the internet as "average" and even "offensive".
"If she believes that's something Indian women wear it's really offensive," one Twitter user shared, calling out the daughter of US President Donald Trump on her choice of outfit during her India trip.
"Too bad her outfit is distracting from her reason to be there!" tweeted a second user, while others came up with their own interpretations of the 36-year-old's "green garden dress".
"Ivanka Trump is looking broader in the black and white coat and her green garden dress is too average and bad," the user chimed in.
Someone else wondered, "Why that green disaster of a dress, Ivanka Trump?"
"Looks more like draperies from the 1950's. UGLY!" tweeted a critic, as another added, "what a hideous dress!"
While the businesswoman's multi-coloured outfit set tongues wagging, her third look was an quite a eyeful. She opted for a regal navy blue and gold gown for the gala dinner at the Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad, where she dined with Modi and other summit delegates.
Embroidered with traditional floral motifs in golden thread, Ivanka's Tory Burch outfit at the palatial venue featured full sleeves and was of floor length.
Ivanka's love for pearl embellishments was evident in her latest appearance, though, when she wore a black and red lace attire. One of her final looks – during her visit to the Golkonda Fort in Hyderabad – included a black and white flowing dress, which too left her followers on Twitter divided.
