Hilary Duff rejected by seven men while taking part in anonymous radio dating game
She has admitted to using dating app Tinder to try and find love in the aftermath of her split from husband Mike Comrie, but now Hilary Duff has taken to cold-calling men in her search for a new romance.
Taking part in a challenge on Australian radio's The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the 27-year-old singer spoke to several potential suitors as she tried to not reveal anything that would give away her celebrity status. The eight other participants in the Too Much Information game that the So Yesterday singer was connected to anonymously were told to hang up if they heard anything they did not like.
With the first caller, Duff began by simply describing herself as "American, blonde, 5'2 and from Texas". She then continued to say "I have a good job, I like to cook, I like to drink wine, and I like dogs more than humans".
The turning point in the conversation came when the bachelor asked what she looked for in a man, to which Duff replied: "Someone that can make me laugh, has a good personality. I like funny banter". The blind date then chose to abruptly end the chat.
Admitting "I'm a single mum" during the challenge caused two more suitors to abandon their unknowing conversation with the Lizzie McGuire actress.
The star had her first and only child, a son named Luca, with estranged husband Comrie in March 2012.
Duff then laid out some relationship ground rules for her potential partners: "If [the callers] didn't have a career yet, I'd be OK with it – but I'd hope they were working toward something. If they're straight unemployed then no, I'm good." This statement led another two singles to swiftly hang up.
After the Come Clean hitmaker admitted that she let her dogs sleep in her bed with her at night, only one suitor remained on the phone.
Tony, the last man standing, finally found out who Duff was when he asked: "What do you do for a living? Not that, that matters, but what do you do?" Hilary responded: "Well we discussed that I'm a mum, but I'm an actress and I'm a singer." But it was host Kyle Sandilands that gave the game away when he interrupted, exclaiming: "She's an international superstar! Hilary Duff, the singer and actress. Do you know Hilary Duff, Tony?"
When the shocked caller confessed that he "absolutely" knew who Hilary Duff was, he suggested that he would probably never hear from her again if he gave her his number. However, Duff ended the conversation by encouragingly saying: "Never say never, I went on Tinder."
Duff was being interviewed on the radio show to promote her upcoming fifth album, Breathe In, Breathe Out.
