An actor's job is never easy; he has to bring as much conviction as he possibly can to every character he essays... otherwise he gets a nasty critical review.

A good acting performance is generally one in which the actor gets into the skin of his character and leaves a strong impression... of his character, not himself... on the audience.

There are a number of instances where actors deliver a blockbuster at their first attempt but then fail to live up to those high standards or fail to deliver across a range of role or simply fail to deliver and end up being labeled mediocre.
