House of Commons staffer arrested after 'glassing man in the face' in parliamentary brawl
Suspect believed to be in custody.
A member of staff at the House of Commons has been arrested after reportedly glassing a man in the face.
The Sun revealed that the staffer was arrested after a brawl at the Sports and Social Bar in the Houses of Parliament.
The bar has been closed indefinitely following the arrest of the 57-year-old suspect. He was taken into custody on suspicion of GBH.
A 64-year-old was taken to hospital after the incident which was said to have occurred on Tuesday evening (5 December.)
A House of Lords spokesman said: "Following an incident on the Parliamentary Estate last night involving two parliamentary staff after leaving the Sports & Social Club Ba, an investigation is under way and the bar will be temporarily closed until that investigation is complete."
The brawl is thought to have taken place at around 6.30pm. Only the two men were involved.
It has been reported that the fight took place directly outside the bar.
The Metropolitan Police is working with parliamentary staff to determine the cause of the fracas.
The bar is one of many drinking areas inside the parliamentary estate open to politicians and guests.
