Ibiza airport was evacuated this evening after reports of a fire and a power cut.

British holidaymakers expecting to catch a flight home were among the tourists who were told to leave the terminal following a suspected power outage that left the airport in darkness.

According to Mail Online tourists described chaotic scenes amid reports of a fire inside the building but passengers said they 'had no clue of what was going on'.

A tourist from London tweeted: "Ibiza Airport is locked down. Apparently there was a fire."

Another wrote: "Power out at Ibiza airport terminal. Now outside and no information apart from fire in building."

The airport is located four miles south of Ibiza Town, a popular party destination for British tourists.
