Amir Khan spills the beans about troubled marriage to Faryal Makhdoom: 'I was messing around'

Amir Khan opened up about his year with Faryal Makhdoom on I'm A Celebrity last night (5 December).

The 30-year-old British boxer admitted to "doing wrong" in the past and insists he wants to be there for his pregnant wife, 26, and their daughter Lamaisah.

Reflecting on his mistakes during the relationship, he said: "I was messing around a lot."

The champion boxer, who has a fear of snakes, told Iain Lee that he plans to ditch the bachelor lifestyle and spend more time with his wife and daughter.

He said: "I used to live a young bachelor's life but this has made me realise I need to live a family life.

"I don't want to live that life, I have a good wife there. I need to spend more time with them."

He added: "One thing I know is, being here is cleansing my body and cleansing my head. My mind as well. It makes you realise a lot of things, what you want in life."

The boxer, who married Pakistani-American cosmetics entrepreneur Makhdoom in 2013, looked headed for divorce at the end of summer after Khan announced a split on Twitter.

He previously tweeted: "So me and the wife Faryal have agreed to split. I'm currently in Dubai. Wish her all the best."

He later followed it up with a screenshot of a Snapchat conversation allegedly between Makhdoom and British boxer Anthony Joshua, before accusing them of having an affair.

Khan added: "Faryal moved on quick. Always mentioned to me how much she wanted to be with another guy, from all people another boxer."

After months of living apart, Khan posted a snap of the pair cuddled up together on the sofa on 11 November, telling his social media followers that they had rekindled their romance.

He captioned the shot: "With my 4 month pregnant wife, after sorting out all the issues. Closing the year with a happy ending @faryalmakhdoom".
