I'm A Celeb's Lisa Snowdon reveals why she couldn't have children as Ola Jordan leaves camp
Model and presenter discussed the heartache in a recent interview.
The attention was on Ola Jordan on the I'm A Celeb front line last night (28 November) as the former Strictly dancer was the third celebrity to be evicted from the jungle, but second-eliminated Lisa Snowdon managed to steal the limelight by revealing why she has not had children.
The model and radio presenter has discussed the heartache of missing out on motherhood , candidly claiming that she did not meet the right man at the right time – and not that she consciously did not want children.
Snowdon, 44, has accepted her situation and enjoys being a "rocking aunty". The presenter dated George Clooney for five years from 2000, and told The Mirror: "I didn't want to have a baby in an unhappy relationship."
During her 16-day stint in the I'm A Celeb jungle she divulged that she had left it too late to have kids. She has, however, finally met the right partner in 37-year-old George Smart.
She added: "It didn't happen and it's something that I have kind of come to terms with. A lot of the younger ones in there want children or they have children. I'm really lucky that I've got four little kids in the family.
"I did always want to be a mum when I was younger, it was something I always imagined doing and being.
"But slowly over the years it just hasn't happened for various reasons, mostly the fact that I wasn't in happy relationships and I just didn't want to have a baby and not have a happy home, I didn't want to have an unhappy pregnancy, I just didn't."
Snowdon remains positive about her current circumstance, adding: "And now I'm 45 in January and it hasn't happened. Rather than feel sorry for myself I feel like I've found George now and we are just really happy that we have each other.
"Sometimes you have to be grateful for what you've got rather than trying to keep pushing it. I feel quite content in the fact we have made that decision between us and I'm just a really rocking aunty. That's going to be my role," she continued.
The former model also explained how the jungle has changed her lone-wolf ways. She added: "I'm quite a loner really. I like to be on my own a lot even though I'm quite outgoing. I still like being at home and shutting the door, nights in.
"So to live with that amount of people in that confined space was a challenge in itself, you can't go anywhere, you've got your hammock, you've got the log, you can walk to the creek, there are not that many places you can go to get away.
The already svelte star lost 10 pounds while in the jungle, and claims she enjoyed cooking for her campmates, hinting that she would love to have her own cookery programme. On the subject, she said: "I would absolutely love to do that. It would be fantastic.
Meanwhile, dancer Jordan is the latest celeb to get the boot from the Australian-based reality series, finding herself in the bottom two with footballer Wayne Bridge. Following her departure, she leapt into her husband James Jordan's arms and gave him a big kiss for the cameras.
On her I'm A Celeb journey, she said: "It's been an amazing thing. It's been an emotional rollercoaster."
I'm A Celeb continues tonight (29 November) at 8.30pm on ITV.
