Overview
After winning the first two ODI's, the world champions will be looking to seal the series in Hyderabad with two games to spare. In the first match, India posted a mammoth total and had won by 169 runs.
Angelo Mathews was hoping to avoid another big total from India. To his luck, he won the toss and the Lankans elected to bat first in the second ODI. However, things did not go as per the plan for the visitors.
Sri Lanka managed only 274 runs from their 50 overs as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Despite being the side from the sub-continent, the 1996 World Cup winners struggled to play against spin.
In reply, India had no trouble to chase down the total as they managed to reach the target with 33 balls to spare and won the match by six wickets. It was Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane who were the star players in the opening match.
Top order batsman Ambati Rayudu joined the openers as his unbeaten knock of 121 in the second ODI helped MS Dhoni's side seal a comfortable victory.
