Overview

Two teams in red hot form, face each other in the final of the U19 World Cup on 14 February, Sunday at Mirpur, Bangladesh. Either India or West Indies will lift the trophy, in what was a keenly contested World Cup.

India who cruised past Sri Lanka in the semi-final, come into this game on the heels of a 15-match unbeaten streak, playing in what will be their fifth final in the Under 19 format. The three-time winners have been in scintillating form so far, and will certainly consider themselves favourites to win the title for the fourth time.

Sarfaraz Khan has been the star with the bat scoring 304 runs at an average of 76, while wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant too has chipped in with important contributions, his 18-ball 50 being the highlight of the tournament so far. The only concern the Indians will have is with the batting performing so well, their middle order has been untested so far, and that could pose a problem if the top order fails to fire in the final.

The bowling too has been impressive; Avesh Khan has led the bowling attack, picking 11 wickets while Mayank Dagar and Mahipal Lomor have provided him able support, taking eight and seven wickets respectively. With both the batting and bowling line-up settled, India will be looking to clinch their fourth U19 World Cup on Sunday.

Making only their second appearance in the finals of the U19 World Cup, West Indies stunned the hosts in the semi-final, beating Bangladesh by three wickets in a thrilling game at Mirpur. The West Indies will be hoping that Shamar Springer repeats his heroics in the final, and leads their charge against a powerful unit. With 282 runs and six wickets, Springer has been one of the outstanding all-rounders of the tournament. West Indies go into this game as the underdogs but could spring a surprise on their day.
