Initial break-up with Miley Cyrus was tough says Liam Hemsworth
Liam Hemsworth has revealed that it was "hard" breaking up initially with Miley Cyrus in 2013, after two reportedly got engaged. The Australian actor also said that the breakup was a "good decision" as it was "needed to happen" at the time.
"Of course it was hard, man. But at the time we were going in different directions and it's just what needed to happen. We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time — we both needed that," the 26-year-old told GQ Australia.
Although the Hunger Games star did not make his relationship with the 23-year-old singer official, but he said in the interview: "People will figure it out, they already have... They're not dumb."
"I guess when I feel something, then I just feel it and I go for it," he said. "I make my decisions about what's going to make me happy, what I think is right and what I want to do — and I don't worry too much outside of that."
Nonetheless, rumours mills are in overdrive about their engaged as Cyrus has been spotted on multiple occasions flashing the same 3.5 carat engagement ring that Hemsworth had reportedly given to her when he proposed.
However, in April, the actor had denied that he was engaged to the Wrecking Ball singer. "I am not engaged," Hemsworth told TV Week. Hemsworth and Cyrus started dating in 2009 after they came together for the filming of the movie The Last Song. The two rekindled their romance in December 2015.
