iOS 8.2 beta 4 build 12D5461b seeding for developers with Apple Watch Bluetooth support
Apple has pushed out the fourth beta version of iOS 8.2 containing bug fixes and improvements for registered developers of the iOS Developer Program.
With build number 12D5461b, the iOS 8.2 beta 4 is currently live through over-the-air update. Head over to Settings>> Software Updates section to down and install the OTA update. Additionally, it is available through the iOS Dev Center.
The beta 4 will be available for the following devices running iOS 8.2 beta software.
Compatible devices- iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 4S, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPad mini and iPod touch 5g.
The significance of this beat version is it adds support for Apple Watch, according to the screenshots and details shared by 9to5Mac.
There is a new panel under Bluetooth settings menu for pairing an iPhone with Apple Watch. Besides, there is mention of Apple Watch app in the instructions section under Bluetooth for pairing up. This again hints that Apple will release an Apple Watch app specially designed for setting and controlling the wearable device.
Currently the Apple Watch app is not accessible in the iOS 8.2 beta 4, but it is expected to come pre-loaded with the official release of the update, which is by March, or, the app could be available from the App Store.
The Apple Watch works only with iPhone 5 and above. The wearable device is expected to start shipping by the end of March.
