iPad 3 Launch Rumours: Apple's New Tablet to be Priced at iPad 2 Level?

The rumours surrounding Apple Inc's announced media event in San Francisco, on 7 March, are refusing to go away. The latest reports that have surfaced have to do with possible pricing strategies of the next generation iPad.

It is believed that Apple will announce the third iteration of their iPad and, according to 9to5Mac, the price will be the same as the iPad 2. Moreover, it will have the same memory configurations as its predecessor - 16/32/64GB.

"We've gotten word that iPad pricing is going to be the same across the board as the current iPad 2 models which should be no big surprise given Apple's history - they rarely raise prices. Even better, some countries with currencies doing better than the US dollar should expect to see marginal drops in prices," reports 9to5Mac.

A source identified only as Mr X had earlier informed 9to5Mac of part numbers for some iPad 3 models, which reportedly appeared in Apple's retail listing. The part numbers will have the same price as well as configurations as iPad 2, according to MacRumors. Furthermore, the iPad 3 model (code name J1) is said to be Wi-Fi compatible, whereas others (code name J2) will work on cellular technology.
