iPhone 6 After Effect: Prices of Apple's iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C Drop Significantly Across Various Countries

Apple, which launched the iPhone 6 with much fanfare on September 9, has now significantly reduced the prices of its older iPhones viz iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S in various parts of the world.

The 4.7in iPhone 6 is priced at $199 (for 16GB variant) in the United States on a two-year carrier contract, and the price goes up to $299 and $399 respectively for the 64GB and 128GB storage variants.

With Apple known to reduce the prices of older devices shortly after launching newer variants, older iPhones are now available for purchase at reduced prices, as an effect of the iPhone 6 launch.

In the United States of America

According to an Engadget report, Apple's iPhone5S is now available at a price of $99 (on carrier contract) in the United States, down from the earlier price of $199 (with mandatory contract).

Also, Apple's comparatively lower-end iPhone 5C is available for free (with a two-year contract) in the United States.

After the launch of the iPhone 6, older iPhone 5S units (both 16GB and 32GB, without carrier contracts) have faced price cuts, and are currently available at $549 (16GB) and $599 (32GB) respectively.

In the United Kingdom

In the UK, an iPhone 5S with 16GB internal storage now costs £459, whereas the 32GB variant costs £499, down by nearly 100 pounds.

Also, the iPhone 5C 8GB model now costs £319, down by £100 from its earlier pricing of £419.

In the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

iPhone 6 has not only led to a significant price drop (in the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S handsets) in the United States, but has also seemingly made an impact on Apple's iPhone 5C and 5S smartphones in other parts of the world.

According to a new report, the prices of iPhone 5S (16GB) and 5C(16GB) smartphones in the UAE, have come down by DH 500 and are selling across Apple's store in the UAE for a price of DH 2,199 (iPhone 5S) and DH 1,699 (iPhone 5C), down from the earlier price of DH 2,599 (iPhone 5S) and DH 2,199 (iPhone 5C) respectively.

In India

Although not officially reflecting on major e-commerce retailers in the country, a Business Today report states that both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will see drop in prices very soon.
