Overview
Both sides are struggling to break into the top four as we near the halfway stage of the tournament. Kolkata have managed just two wins from their six matches so far and need to find some form and momentum soon, if they still harbour hopes of defending the title.
Trevor Bayliss' men have lost their last two matches; the most recent being a four-wicket defeat at home to Chennai Super Kings, after managing a meagre total of 119. Morgan has performed well on a regular basis this season but his team has failed to cross the line and get points on the board.
Mumbai have also lost their last two games; first at Rajasthan by 87 runs and then at Delhi by nine wickets. The side has one of the most star-studded line-ups in the league but their top order, especially captain Ricky Ponting, has failed to fire so far. Tendulkar, arguably one of the sport's all-time greats, alongisde Sir Don Bradman, will take the field on the day he turns 40.
The head-to-head between these two sides is heavily lop-sided in favour of the visitors, as Mumbai have triumphed on eight of their previous ten meetings with Kolkata.
