Before Major Lazer's performance, Ranveer calls Jacqueline Fernandez, Katrina, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Dwaye Bravo to dance for "Champion."

Ranveer Singh's performance has been energetic just like him. Started with a famous number from the move Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Tattad Tattad.

The pads and the gloves are off along with the bat and the helmet for the second track Tune Maari Entriyaan. It is followed by a Gallan Goodiyaan from Dil Dhadakne Do.

This, by far has been the best performance, on par with Dwayne Bravo's Champion. It would not have been a complete performance if there was no performance for the track from Bajirao Mastani. That was an amazing performance from Ranveer.

Ranveer Singh is the next one to perform. He has been introduced as show-stopper. Let us hope he lives up to it after a disappointing performance from Yo Yo Honey Singh.

Kings XI Punjab captain David Miller

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is the next man to perform.

Yo Yo Honey Singh is not having a great time in the middle. The lip sync for his own track is not working out for him.

His next performance is of his famous track "Manali Trance."

The smile on the player's face shows this has been the most awaited performance of this opening ceremony.

That was a brilliant performance by Katrina Kaif. The most awaited performance is up next. It is the "Champion," who will be walking to the stage.

The next dance if for Afghan Jalebi from the movie Phantom .

It was followed by a dance for title track from the movie Bang Bang.

Katrina Kaif will the third performer to come on stage for the IPL 2016 opening ceremony.

The captains are urged to sign the pledge to uphold the spirit of the game. Zaheer starts the proceedings, followed by Suresh Raina.

IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla

Ravi Shastri has now called upon IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla on the stage and then Anurag Thakur, honourable secretary of BCCI.

Shastri is calling captains on the stage one after the other. The order is

3. Kings XI Punjab captain David Miller
4. Kolkata Knight Riders Gautam Gambhir
5. Rising Pune Supergiants captain MS Dhoni

7. Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner
8. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma

India's team director Ravi Shastri is in the middle. He has called upon eight captains to take pledge for MCC's spirit of the game.

The "Kings United" have formed a human pyramid for their performance. The even have a football where one their members is balancing the ball and dancing at the same time.

The second performance is from Hip hop dance group Kings United, who were the bronze medalist at the World Hip Hop Championships.

Sooraj Dooba Hain, a dance number from the movie Roy is the next dance performed by Jacqueline Fernandez. There have been few props used by the dancers supporting the Bollywood star. That was a scintillating performance by Jacqueline Fernandez.

Jacqueline Fernandez performs to a remix version of the track "Party On My Mind." The tempo of the song is way higher than the original one. It is a 360* stage, which allows audience and viewers to get a clear view.

Jacqueline Fernandez will start the first dance of the evening in Mumbai. She starts the dance for a Bollywood number "Yaar Naa Miley" from the movie Kick.

The Indian Premier League 2016's opening ceremony is minutes away from the start. It is expected that this year's ceremony will be something to remember for a long time. We will find out in the next few hours.

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh will also perform during the IPL 2016 opening ceremony

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo's latest track "Champion" went viral in India and other countries. In the IPL, he will play for Gujarat Lions and he will perform alongside Bollywood and international starts today.

West Indies players were seen dancing when they entered the hotel after beating India and England in the semi-final and final of the ICC T20 World Cup.

In Mumbai, the captains of all eight franchise met to have pre-tournament meeting. The same was confirmed by IPL's official Twitter account.

The ninth edition of the Indian Premier League will kick-start on 9 April in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium when the defending champions Mumbai Indians take on newcomers Rising Pune Supergiants.

Prior to the first match, there has been an opening ceremony and just like previous years, the IPL 2016 opening ceremony will see several stars perform live.
