A 53-year-old man has been arrested after a woman's body was found in a flat on the Isle of Wight. Police were called to the property in Barton Road, Newport, at 12.40pm on 2 August leading to the discovery of the body.
Hampshire police have launched an investigation and the scene was cordoned off for forensic officers to examine the property. A statement posted by Isle of Wight police on Twitter said: "Following the discovery of a woman's body at a premises in Newport we have arrested a 53-year-old man who is helping us with our enquiries."
