Jada Pinkett-Smith has hit back at reports claiming that a picture of her teenage daughter Willow Smith in bed with topless 20-year-old man was sexually suggestive.

Thirteen-year-old Willow made headlines when a photograph emerged online showing her in a compromising position with former Hannah Montana star Moisés Arias.

In the shot, the pop singer is fully clothed and leans on her arm while lying on her side. Arias is sitting up in the background.

Although the picture, originally posted by Arias, was swiftly deleted from his Instagram account, fans took to social media to express their disgust with the image.

One said the picture "creeps me out". Several others accused her parents of letting her run wild.

"As a mother it looks bad for a 13-year-old girl laying in the bad with a boy for real, I don't care what was going on. I am not open for that," another added.

Pinkett Smith defended her daughter's actions and insisted that people should take their minds out of the gutter.

"Here's the deal. There was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation," she told TMZ. "You guys are projecting your trash on to it and you are acting like covert paedophiles and that not cool."

Willow made her career debut in 2010 with the hit song Whip my Hair, which peaked at No 11 on the Billboard chart.

Last July, she raised eyebrows with the music video of her single, Summer Fling, in which she spends time alone with an older-looking boy.

"This child is too young for this grown-up stuff. I don't care how carefree the Smiths are with their children," one critic said at the time.

"This is just too much. At this age I didn't even know what a fling was let alone did I want to be around some boy twirling around the woods."
