Jada Pinkett Smith reveals she attended couples therapy after slamming open marriage rumours
Speculation was rife that the Hollywood couple enjoy an open marriage.
Hollywood couple Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have been going strong for years and this year marks their 20th anniversary. But recently there were rumours that they have an open marriage.
Although the Bad Moms actress outright slammed claims that she and her husband are 'swingers', she admits to undergoing couple's therapy to get through rough patches.
"We celebrate twenty this year. I think the secret is just friendship," the 45-year-old actress said during the promotion of her new film Girl's Trip.
"The hardest thing to do is being married," she continued, explaining to the Loose Women panel that, "Therapy can be an awesome entry point as far as getting to be where you need to go."
Will and Jada first met on the set of The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, where the actress was auditioning for the part of his love interest. While things didn't work out on-screen, in real life, the two went on to have a successful relationship and a subsequent marriage.
However, after spending almost two decades together, the mother-of-two claims that they had to deal with their "personal traumas". "You expect them to fill voids for you but you need to do that separately. Expecting someone else to make you happy is not right," she adds.
Personal issues aside, the couple have been the subject of another popular Hollywood rumour – that they enjoy an open marriage and are frequenters to swinger parties. But, Jada strenuously denies saying, "We do not swing."
"Now I do have a couple of boyfriends and a couple of girlfriends but we don't swing," she explained adding, "Will likes to play golf and I like to bake."
The fan-favourite couple is parents to teenagers - Jaden, 19, and Willow, 16 – while the Hitch actor also shares 24-year-old son Trey Smith with ex-wife Sheree Zampino.
