Japan: Pensioner Arranged Tea Party Sex Sessions for Senior Citizens

A pensioner in Japan has been arrested for arranging for fellow senior citizens to meet up for sex.

Seventy-year-old Kiyohide Kuroda was arrested by Tokyo Metropolitan Police on prostitution charges for running a "tea" club that advertised for elderly people looking for sex.

Kuroda, who runs a club called Three Loves, was taken into custody after a 67-year-old male office worker met up with a 65-year-old woman at a coffee shop in Shinjuku Ward for illicit activities that violate the country's prostitution laws.

It is thought the pensioner has run the service for a decade. He arranged sex sessions by placing daily adverts in the Tokyo Shimbun newspaper and two other publications, reports Tokyo Reporter.

The adverts were looking for men and women interested in meeting for tea.

Kuroda reportedly told police: "In order to give the impression that the service was not an adult-entertainment club, we were said to be 'introducing tea-drinking companions. I thought people seeking prostitution would understand the real meaning."

According to Japanese newspaper Sankei Shimbun, Three Loves has around 1,000 male members and 350 women. The average was around 60, but the oldest woman was 82 and the oldest man 88.

Members are asked to pay 5,000 yen (£31) as an initial joining fee. In addition, men are asked to pay between 20,000 and 25,000 yen if they wish to meet a partner for sex.

According to the report, Tokyo Shimbun received approximately 42,000 yen each month from its advertising fees.

A representative of the company said: "The advertisements were reviewed through our standard procedure and a business 'seeking tea-drinking companions' is acceptable from a publishing point of view.

"It is indeed unfortunate that (the ads) were used for criminal purposes. From now, we will administer great care in our inspection process."
