Jared Leto's Christ Lookalike Instagram Sparks Backlash

Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto has provoked controversy after posting an image comparing his hairstyle to Jesus Christ's famous locks.

The Dallas Buyers Club star raised eyebrows when he posted the split image on his Instagram and captioned it: "Haaaa! Fashion may go out of style but style never goes out of fashion. #ClassicLooks #FashionForward #ThanksJC #NotComparingToChrist xo."

Although the 42-year-old Hollywood A-lister insisted that the he wasn't trying to compare himself to the Son Of God, it did not stop members of the Christian community accusing him of being disrespectful.

While some fans wanted to burn him at the stake, others insisted that the image was just a bit of fun.

But the drama is not likely to ruin his high following his win at the Academy Awards.

The long-haired rocker, who is a member of the group Thirty Seconds To Mars, took home the Best Supporting Actor gong for his stand-out portrayal of Rayon, a transgender woman.
