Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston to reunite in upcoming comedy Office Christmas Party
Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston have signed on to star in upcoming festive comedy Office Christmas Party. Joining them on screen will be Deadpool's TJ Miller and Saturday Night Live's Kate McKinnon.
The people behind the film have allegedly been trying to get it off the ground for a while now, with a number of actors and writers becoming attached and then opting out of the project as it nears production. Blades Of Glory directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck are currently signed on to helm the comedy.
Gordon and Speck both worked with Aniston and Bateman for their 2010 film The Switch, which saw the duo play best friends Kassie and Wally who discover after seven years that Wally is in fact the father of Kassie's son, who was conceived via a sperm donor. The pair have also worked together in movies The Break-Up with Vince Vaughn, plus Horrible Bosses and its sequel opposite Jason Sudeikis and Kevin Spacey. The latest script for the movie comes from writers including Lee Eisenberg (Bad Teacher), Gene Stupnitsky (Year One) and Laura Solon (Hot In Cleveland).
The exact plot of the film is being kept under wraps for now, but we're thinking it is likely to go down the whole 'party gone wrong' route, with arguably lots of drinking, hooking up and photocopying various body parts included. Gordon and Speck are reportedly looking to start shooting in the spring. Despite not even having started production yet, the movie is already slated for a US cinema release on 9 December 2016, but there's no word yet on when it would reach UK cinemas.
Before then, Bateman is to be seen lending his voice to Disney animation Zootropolis, while Aniston has just finished production on Garry Marshall's comedy Mother's Day alongside Kate Hudson and Julia Roberts. Elsewhere, McKinnon is to appear on the big screen in Paul Feig's all-female take on paranormal butt-kicker Ghostbusters.
