Jason Isaacs joins Catherine Tate and Nick Frost for monster animation Happy Family
What happens when one chaotic family consists of a vampire, a werewolf, a mummy and Frankenstein's monster? Well, Jason Isaacs looks likely to find out as he's signed on to lend his voice to upcoming spooky animation, Happy Family.
He will be joining already confirmed cast members aboard the children's film: Catherine Tate (Doctor Who), Nick Frost (Shaun Of The Dead), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Celia Imrie (Bridget Jones' Diary) and Emily Watson (The Book Thief).
The Harry Potter star will reportedly play a Dracula-type villain, who, after falling for Watson's character Emma Wishbone, orders a witch to turn his love into a vampire. (He really means it when he says he wants to be with her forever). But his plans take an unexpected turn when the spell accidentally transforms both the woman and the rest of their family into their own Halloween costumes too.
In light of their new situation, Emma passes on Drac's advances despite his captivating charm and offers of a better life away from her family stresses, and the rejection sends him into a fit of rage. Upset, the head vampire plots to destroy the entire world... hell hath no fury like a dead-man scorned!
The plot is based on the best-selling novel by Emmy award-winning writer David Safier and will be directed by Animals United's Holger Tappe, using a script Safier penned himself alongside German TV writer/producer Catharina Junk. Independent production company Timeless Films, best known for their animations Justin And The Knights Of Valour and Postman Pat The Movie, and children's television show veterans Ambient Entertainment are fronting the project, which will eventually be released in cinemas in 3D.
