Jason Statham confirms his role in Fast and Furious 8 and shares production update on Crank 3
Jason Statham has confirmed that he will be returning as Deckard Shaw in the next instalment of Fast and Furious.
During an interview with Den of Geek, Statham spoke about his upcoming projects which include Fast and Furious 8. The actor also shed some light on the production status of Crank 3.
Unfortunately, there's still not much in the way of obvious progress on Crank 3. However, Statham stated that "Crank 3 is something I've always wanted to do". The Furious 7 star added that "The directors want to do it, we're trying to figure things out."
His return to the Fast and Furious franchise seems pretty much confirmed though. "There's Fast 8, they want to do another one", he confirmed while talking about his upcoming projects. In terms of trying to schedule another movie he's got planned, Statham said that "to me, it depends what Universal are doing and when they want to go."
Universal has already set an April 2017 release date for the film. Vin Diesel and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will reprise their respective roles in the film which will reportedly be set in New York this time around.
It's still unclear what the studio has in mind with regards to filling Paul Walker's void in the popular franchise. Maybe a big casting announcement will be made soon...maybe at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con in July?
