Jember Fashion Carnival 2013: Models Catwalk in Streets to Show Indonesian Creations [PHOTOS]
The 2013 Jember Fashion Carnival in Indonesia lives up to its reputation as one of the most colourful tourist attractions in the Far East, as models took to the streets to present creations by local designers.
In its 12th edition, the Jember Carnival in East Java saw models catwalk along a 3.2km stretch. The fashion show was originally conceived to make the city of Jember a fashion event destination. And the result was quite visible on the streets as hundreds of thousands of spectators lined across the walking route when models presented creations on the final day of the carnival on 25 August.
About 750 participants presented creations made by fashion designers from six different Indonesian cities during the carnival. The creations were inspired from fashion trends from across the world.
This year's theme was Artechsion (Art meet Technology and Illusion) and incorporated designs related to Tibet, the Betawi people, bamboo, art deco, tribes and Venice, according to the carnival's official website.
Besides the fashion show, painting, photo and culinary exhibitions were also held during the carnival.
