Jeremie Malenge murder: 17-year-old girl due to appear at court charged with fatal Hackney stabbing
A 17-year-old girl from Hackney is due to appear at Stratford Magistrates' Court charged with chasing down and stabbing to death Jeremie Malenge.
Metropolitan Police officers arrested the teenager on Thursday, 8 January, and later charged her on Sunday (11 January) with the murder of Malenge.
She will appear at the east London court today.
Malenge, of Arcola Street, Hackney, died after a group of youths ran him down and stabbed him along Ponsford Street, Hackney, at approximately 11.40pm following an altercation at a Homerton High Street shop on January 6, investigators believe.
An Independent Police Complaints Commission probe was launched in the wake of his death after it emerged police had questioned Malenge one hour before he was killed on suspicion of being in possession of a knife.
Last week, uncle Ernest Katula, 52, urged youths to "just put the knives down and concentrate on education," he told the Evening Standard.
