Jessica Jones season 2: Showrunner talks about new episodes and involvement with The Defenders miniseries
Considering the positive response that Marvel's Jessica Jones has received, we can all definitely expect a season 2 announcement soon. Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg recently spoke about the prospect saying that even though there are a lot more stories to explore, timing might be the only factor that may come in the way.
While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Rosenberg was asked about the possibility of a second season for Jessica Jones. She spoke about squeezing that in before the crossover miniseries, The Defenders, eventually premieres (via ComicBookMovie).
"I hope so. There certainly is story-telling wise. The question becomes is there actual time? There are logistics involved, because Defenders has to shoot by a certain time, contractually," she said.
Rosenberg then went on to add: "Actually, I'm not sure; I'm not at all involved in those conversations, much to my dismay. The first question is whether or not we will even get a second season. The second question is, if so, when? Will it be before The Defenders or after? I'd certainly love it to be before but there are things that play into that — time, availability."
Rosenberg also hinted that she might be heavily involved with Jessica Jones' storyline within The Defenders saying that she will do everything in her power "to protect the character in whatever forms".
"They'll [Marvel/Netflix] have to throw me kicking and screaming out of that building. But they own the property. They've really been inclusive thus far so I'm not really worried about it."
