John Mayer responds to Katy Perry's best ex-lover compliment
'I'm having the time of my life. I'm 39 – I remember 32. I don't wanna do it again,' says Mayer.
Katy Perry recently ranked John Mayer as the best ex-lover she has had, but the Gravity singer does not seem to care.
The singer-songwriter, in an interview with Rolling Stones magazine, opened up about how he feels about the Roar hitmaker ranking him before Orlando Bloom and Diplo over their performance in bed. Perry had placed the Lord Of The Rings star second and the DJ third among her three ex-lovers.
"I don't have a cool-enough thought for you," he said when asked about what he thinks about Perry calling him her "best lover".
"I've hacked this game. I pay very little of the price of fame now. I get to play the music that moves me the most. I'm having the time of my life. I'm 39 – I remember 32. I don't wanna do it again," he said.
Perry and Mayer dated on and off between 2012 and 2015. Mayer also dated Taylor Swift in 2009.
During the interview, Mayer also talked about why he quit alcohol and why he feels cannabis is better.
"I put it where drinking used to go, and the quality of life has gone up considerably," he said. "Drinking is a f*****g con. How much is enough? Every time I drank, I was looking for some sort of regulated amount. It always feels wrong for me. I always feel like I went overboard."
"'I said two, now it's three, now we're at four?' I never had a serious issue with it, but I remember looking around going, 'This feels rigged.' I'm taking a break. There's never an amount that felt like I was succeeding at life. It always felt wrong."
