Jonas and Julian Draxler: The Best and Worst of the Transfer Window 29/01
The best rumour of the day
West Brom appear to be eyeing up a move for Valencia forward Jonas as new boss Pepe Mel looks to bolster his attacking options.
It is thought the deal, worth £8m, could prompt Nicolas Anelka's departure from the Baggies.
Former Real Betis manager Mel is all too aware of the 29-year-old's talents having faced him during his own time working in La Liga.
The Brazilian international has scored nine goals in 18 appearances this term sparking interest from Tottenham, Everton and West Ham.
Mel however hopes to secure a deal to bring Jonas in before the window closes on Friday.
The worst rumour of the day
Arsenal has given Julian Draxler an ultimatum after offering £24.7m for the Schalke attacking midfielder in a 'take it or leave it' bid.
The Gunners have had their hearts set on this deal since the opening of the January transfer window but have once again failed to meet Draxler's buy-out clause of £37m.
Schalke remain adamant that Draxler won't be going anywhere.
"I am of the opinion he should also be with us next season," said Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies.
"It would be my personal advice. He can play his best football without any big pressure and at our club he would have a clear mind.
"He is very much in good hands playing for Schalke 04. My general advice for everyone would be to stop making Julian mad."
If Arsenal's persistence pays off it could make for a fiery end to the transfer window.
