Is Justin Bieber angry with Ariana Grande for defending Selena Gomez?
Ariana Grande recently came to fellow pop-star Selena Gomez's defence when she criticised the media for addressing Gomez as Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend. In an interview for the Billboard magazine, the Dangerous Woman hitmaker expressed contempt that women being referred to as someone's property.
Considering Grande's previous digs at Bieber – when she called him Satan – was the Sorry singer furious at her for the remark?
It seems Bieber took the comment in the best of spirits as he thought Grande's remarks were "cool". A source told Hollywood Life, "Justin didn't take what Ariana said in her Billboard interview as a personal diss. He thinks what she said was cool." The source further claimed that the 22-year-old Love Yourself singer knows that Gomez would want to be known for her work rather than as someone's ex.
"Justin would never want to be the cause of anything that hinders Selena as a person and as an artist. He totally supports Ariana's point of view, and only wants Selena to be happy," the source added.
The counter-reaction came following 22-year-old Grande's recent interview for the Billboard magazine. She said, "I'll never be able to swallow the fact that people feel the need to attach a successful woman to a man when they say her name," seemingly referring to Gomez and Bieber's former relationship. "I saw a headline – draw your own conclusions [on the subjects] because it'll be so much drama that I don't want – they called someone another someone's ex, and that pi**ed me off," Grande added.
She continued, "This person has had so many great records in the last year, and she hasn't been dating him forever," before adding, "Call her by her name!"
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Hands To Myself singer couldn't be more thrilled at Grande's support for her. "Selena was very flattered with what Ariana had to say," a source told Hollywood Life adding, "She [Gomez] thought her interview was classy and that Ariana herself is a class act."
