Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Zayn Malik lead Teen Choice Awards 2016 music nominations
Teen Choice Awards 2016 has announced its first list of nominations and by the looks of it, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Zayn Malik seem to be leading the pack with most nods in the music category.
Both Gomez, 23, and Bieber, 22, received three nominations each in their respective choice song categories, choice male and female artist and choice male and female hottie. Former One Direction star Zayn Malik too made it to the choice male artist category with Bieber, along with a nod in the choice male hottie category with Harry Styles.
Hands To Myself hitmaker Gomez will compete with BFF Taylor Swift and former Disney pal Demi Lovato to win the choice female artist award. Also nominated in this list are superstars Beyonce, Ariana Grande and Rihanna. The competition seems tough in the male version of the category as well with Bieber being pitted against Canadian stars Drake and Shawn Mendes.
The choice song (female) has some of the hit numbers of the year listed in the category such as power-ballad Hello by Adele and recent release Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande among others. On the other hand, the choice song (male) category includes Bieber's Sorry, Pillowtalk by Zayn Malik and Close by Nick Jonas.
British band One Direction stands as a strong contender with two nominations, one for the choice music group award and one in the choice song group category with a nod for their hit number Home. Other music sensations who have received multiple nominations in the overall list include Beyonce, Swift and Drake.
Although 2016 Teen Choice Awards' host and performers are yet to be revealed, the voting for the star-studded event has already begun on the TCA official website.
