Kanye West drops cover for 'The Life of Pablo' ahead of Yeezy 3 fashion and music extravaganza
Kanye West has revealed the title of his new album, as he debuts Yeezy Season 3 at Madison Square Garden, with a joint fashion show and listening party. He dropped the cover art for the new album, "The Life of Pablo", which features the title over 70 times. It also features a photo, which appears to have been taken at a family wedding.
Playing the tracks to an 18,000-strong crowd, he asked for the audience's reaction asking the crowd: "Tell me how y'all feel? Did I deliver on my promise on that album?"
Switching focus to the fashion show, which saw British supermodel Naomi Campbell take to the catwalk, he said: "Tell me how y'all feel about the clothes this season," before thanking Adidas "for paying for this." He also led a chant against Nike, but warned the crowd not to speak ill of Michael Jordan.
Concluding the event he said: "People do come to Madison Square Garden to see me play one-on-no-one."
The event saw the Kardashian clan turn out in force in support of the self-professed superstar, with wife Kim tweeting: "About to pull up with the fam!!!! I have butterflies." The reality TV star who was making one of her first public appearances since the birth of the couple's son Saint, was accompanied by sisters Kourtney and Kendall Jenner who was carrying toddler North West, with the family coordinating in white outfits designed by Kanye.
Kim had even dyed her hair white and won a shoutout from her husband. "I wanna appreciate my wife and her family for supporting me when I go crazy on the fashion world and do all that shit, you know," he said, to cheers from the crowd. "I wanna appreciate you all."
Lamar Odom was also at the event, making his first public appearance since his near-fatal collapse last October.
Kanye was undecided about the title of the album which was originally due to be called Swish and then Waves. Later he hinted at the new name revealing it was made up of four words starting with the letters TLOP. He promised his followers that "anybody who can figure out the title gets tickets to Season 3 and free Yeezys". Some 33 people correctly guessed the title and won tickets to the fashion show.
On 10 February, the father-of-two shared a handwritten track list for the album. Writing on Twitter Kanye revealed that he broke down in tears while penning a tribute track to his father Ray for the album. "Father Stretch My Hands....I cried writing this. I love my Dad," the 38-year-old tweeted, along with a picture of the song's lyrics.
A live stream of the event was relayed on the Tidal website and the show was being broadcast in 700 cinemas across 23 countries.
