Kate Middleton, Prince William and Baby George Featured on New Zealand Coin and Stamps Ahead of Royal Visit
The New Zealand Post will release two special stamps and a coin featuring Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince George in April.
The coin and stamp will be released to commemorate the upcoming visit of the young royal family to the country.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George will visit Australia and New Zealand in April. This will be William and Kate's first official overseas trip since they became parents in July.
"The first royal tour of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as a married couple is an exciting event for the Commonwealth. New Zealand Post is eager to welcome the young couple and commemorate this occasion with a special stamp issue for their April tour," the New Zealand Post announced in a statement.
"This visit marks the first royal tour by Prince William on behalf of the Queen, with the visit being Catherine's first visit to New Zealand. New Zealanders are excited for the arrival of the young royals, with over half of New Zealand having tuned in to their wedding in 2011."
One of the stamps depicts a family portrait of William, Kate and George, taken in August by Kate's father in the garden of the Middleton family home in Berkshire. In the photo, George, almost a month old, is cradled in his mother's arms while Prince William stands alongside.
The other stamp features the official portrait of Prince George's christening taken in the Morning Room at Clarence House in London.
The coin will be one ounce silver proof legal tender coin with illustration of the young couple in colour against the backdrop of Government House in Wellington.
According to New Zealand Post, the images for use on the stamps and coin were approved personally by the Queen.
Both the stamps and the coin will be released on April 7. The stamps will be available in sets as well as single.
