Keith Barron dead: Duty Free star passes away aged 83 after a short illness
British TV star rose to fame in the 60s.
Keith Barron has died aged 83. The British actor, best known for roles in shows including Duty Free and Where The Heart Is, has passed away after a short illness, his agent said in a statement.
"He had a long and varied career which included The Nigel Barton Plays by Dennis Potter of which he was immensely proud."
Born in West Riding of Yorkshire he rose to fame in the 1960s as Detective Sergeant Swift in The Odd Man
He made appearances in Upstairs, Downstairs and also appeared in Coronation Street as George Trench.
Barron's final TV appearance was in 2016 on DCI Banks, in which he played Arthur Banks in ten episodes.
He is survived by Mary, his wife of 58 years and his son Jamie, also an actor.
