Kelly Rowland: Destiny's Child singer reveals husband Tim Witherspoon named son Titan Jewell
Kelly Rowland has revealed that she gave her husband Tim Witherspoon the honour of naming their first child.
Speaking to E! News, the former Destiny's Child singer, who gave birth to their son Titan Jewell in November, said that trusting him with the responsibility gave him an equally important role during the pregnancy.
"Tim said that's what he wanted the name to be. I actually told him to name the baby," she said. "I gave him the complete responsibility because I did everything else!
"I pushed the baby, I carried the baby, I'm dressing the baby and I'm changing the baby. Everything else! So yeah, I'm like, 'You name the baby!'"
But Rowland admits that while she trusted her husband to pick the perfect moniker, she would have "told him to change it until we got it right" if she wasn't receptive to his suggestion.
The proud mother, who tied the knot with her manager in an intimate Costa Rica ceremony in May 2014, recently introduced her son to the world in the April issue of Essence magazine. The cover shoot shows the Motivation hitmaker cradling her newborn, while Witherspoon looks on smiling.
In the accompanying article, Rowland opens up about motherhood, married life and the death of her mother, Doris Rowland Garrison, who passed away in December.
"I'm not in a crazy rush [to lose the baby weight]. I'm just embracing the weight I have on," she said. "I mean, I just had a baby four months ago and I feel great. My baby is healthy, my family is happy and those that I love are healthy, so I'm not rushing to get back to it."
Rowland announced her pregnancy back in June 2014, by sharing a cute image of a pair of Air Jordans with a baby version of the trainers next to them.
"I'll be stuntin like my daddy ..." the Dirty Laundry hitmaker captioned the snapshot.
