Kenya: 12 arrested as aviation students in Nairobi protest over fake degrees report
Dozens of students from an aviation college in Kenya have taken to the streets of Nairobi to protest against a report alleging the college issued fake degrees.
The enraged students, from the Nairobi Aviation College, hurled stones at the Nation Media Group building and broke doors and windows, the Daily Nation reported.
The students staged the rally after arguing that the report aired by television broadcasting NTV could reduce their chances to find an employment.
Protesters also climbed on top of vehicles parked outside the building.
Police fired tear gas to disperse the demonstrators and arrested at least 12 people.
According to the Daily Nation, which also published the report on fake certificates, one teacher at the aviation college claimed he had "helped thousands of students to acquire certificates without them setting foot in class. He bragged about his network across all campuses."
