Khloe Kardashian files for divorce from Lamar Odom for a second time
Now that he is doing better, Khloe Kardashian is divorcing former basketball player husband Lamar Odom – again.
Kardashian filed for divorce once before in 2013, but was stalling signing the final termination papers when Odom very nearly died. Odom was found unconscious and in critical condition after a wildly debauched weekend at a legal Nevada brothel with cocaine and other drugs in his system.
Khloe rushed to his bedside, withdrew the divorce paperwork and eventually brought Odom back to Calabassas, California, where she helped him set up house, alone.
Now she has filed for divorce again, citing irreconcilable differences, just like last time.
There had been some hints the two would get back together, especially after Odom joined Kardashian and other members of the family at an Easter church service earlier this year. Kardashian has long declared her love for Odom, citing his addictions as the reason she split with him the first time.
Odom has also been appearing in episodes of the Keeping Up with the Kardashians reality TV series.
But Khloe's heart didn't seem to be into this time. She was even dating NBA star James Harden for a time while she was nursing Odom back to health
There was also some indication Odom may have slipped back into bad habits with reports that he was seen drinking in a bar.
"It doesn't matter how loyal you are to someone. You can't change someone's heart and bad habits unless they want to themselves," Kardashian noted on Instagram soon afterwards.
"Letting go with love takes great strength," she added. "We have to learn to stop taking on people's problems as if they are our own. Loving people does not mean we have to carry their burdens and confusions on our back."
The two have no children together. The divorce filing states that the couple have a prenuptial agreement. No details were revealed, but Kardashian is seeking to end spousal support and divide property following the parameters of the prenup, according to a CNN report.
Khloe, who had officially changed her name to Kardashian-Odom after her marriage, also requested in the divorce that Odom be dropped from her name.
The two married in September 2009, one month after meeting, in a wedding ceremony filmed for a special episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians. They starred in a spinoff reality show Khloe & Lamar.
Kardashian filed for divorce the first time a month after Odom's arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) in 2013.
