Killer Phil Spector says he wants a divorce because his wife is spending his money

In 2006, Phil Spector married Rachelle Short, a former waitress, while he was in jail for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson. Now the famed American record producer wants a divorce, claiming Short has spent an enormous amount of his earnings, while he serves his 19 years to life prison sentence.

Spector's examples of Short's alleged spending are shocking. Amongst other things, Spector claims his wife has had plastic surgery, buys expensive jewelry, got her mother two homes, bought an Aston Martin, a Ferrari, a £243,000 ($350,000) airplane and is in the process of getting a jet, according to TMZ.

Short believed that her husband was innocent of Clarkson's murder, claiming that he was the fall guy for the death of the actress in his home in 2003. She plainly refers to the killing of the actress, who featured in many low-budget 1980s fantasy movies, as "the situation".

Spector says that even though his current net worth is £100m, his wife only gives him an allowance of £208 ($300) a month. The 76-year-old is asking for his daughter to take control over his fortune.

Rachelle, who is 41 years younger than her husband, has not been in the media spotlight for the past couple of years. However, it doesn't look like the married couple are doing great behind closed doors.
