Kristi Noem's Husband Allegedly 'Humiliated' Over Corey Lewandowski Affair Claims, Family Urges Exit
Bryon Noem faces pressure from relatives to leave Kristi Noem as unverified affair claims and a damaging congressional hearing deepen scrutiny of their marriage.

Kristi Noem's husband, Bryon Noem, is reportedly facing renewed pressure from relatives in Washington after allegations about the former Homeland Security secretary's relationship with adviser Corey Lewandowski emerged this week, with family members telling The Post on Friday they want him to walk away from the marriage.
The couple have been married since 1992, having first met as teenagers in South Dakota, and went on to raise three children while building a life that moved from the family farm into business and politics. Bryon Noem entered the insurance industry in 2003, while Kristi Noem launched her political career in 2006, later becoming governor in 2018 and, until this week, serving as Homeland Security secretary.
Why Bryon Noem Stayed
The report reveals not a straightforward political scandal but a bruising family drama shaped by religion, loyalty and public embarrassment. One relative said Bryon Noem had long seen his role in almost spiritual terms, telling the paper that about 20 years ago he decided 'it was his calling from God to support her in whatever she decided to do' and that, as a result, 'he has put up with the humiliation. We will see if he sticks with her now.'

That explanation matters because it shifts the story away from simple passivity. According to relatives, his decision to remain in the marriage is bound up with Christian faith, his sense of duty and the vows he made decades ago. Another family member put it more bluntly, saying, 'Bryon is a Christian man, and he believes that marriage is forever,' before adding that he is also deeply close to his children and that the strain is likely to be hard on them.
The report also suggests these tensions did not suddenly appear when the allegations became public. Relatives claimed there had been friction for years between Kristi Noem and members of Bryon Noem's wider family, and that rumours of a relationship with Lewandowski had circulated privately long before this week. One relative accused her of having contempt for the Noem family, a claim that is serious but unverified, and one that goes to the heart of why some of Bryon Noem's relatives now seem to believe the marriage has been tested past any ordinary breaking point.
The Hearing Fallout
The immediate trigger for this latest rupture was a House hearing on Wednesday, when Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove questioned Kristi Noem over rumours of an affair with Lewandowski, described in the report as her top adviser and a 'special government employee.' Bryon Noem had been present in support of his wife earlier in the session, but he reportedly left shortly before the most pointed exchange, during which she did not deny the alleged relationship.

Noem: "That is garbage and it is offensive that you have brought that up."

That silence appears to have landed heavily with relatives. One family member told the paper, 'What gets me is she couldn't say no,' and then repeated the point in almost stunned terms, saying that when she was being pressed on it, 'she couldn't say no.' It is a small detail, but in family scandals those are often the details that stick, not because they prove anything on their own, but because they deepen suspicions already sitting there.
Another relative said they had actually welcomed the sight of Bryon Noem seated behind his wife while she was being grilled, arguing that the hearing may finally have forced him to confront what they see as reality. 'I actually liked that he sat behind her while she was grilled on the ICE atrocities,' the person said. 'I think he's ignored the reality. Maybe he has to face it now.' A second relative described the public nature of the controversy as shocking and said they hoped it would finally wake him up.
The personal and political threads then tightened all at once. President Trump fired Noem on Thursday, a day after the hearing, and that sources told The Post her answers about Lewandowski were the final straw. She is expected to leave her post at the end of the month. Bryon Noem, for his part, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. One relative, sounding less angry than saddened, told the paper, 'She's not the same girl — we used to be close friends.'
