Laurent Blanc confirms Paris Saint Germain injury list ahead of Chelsea visit
Paris Saint Germain manager Laurent Blanc has confirmed he will be without at least four members of his first team for the Champions League last-16 clash with Chelsea on Tuesday.
Yohan Cabaye, Marquinhos, Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura were all forced off in PSG's 2-2 draw with Caen on Saturday as the champions finished with nine men on the pitch after surrendering a 2-0 lead.
Following the match, Blanc confirmed all four would "certainly" miss the visit of Jose Mourinho's side, with some doubt over what role Blaise Matuidi will have to play after he also suffered a minor knock.
"We have four players (Marquinhos, Cabaye, Aurier and Lucas) that will certainly be absent against Chelsea," PSG coach Blanc said. "Matuidi is less of a concern.
"It's a very hard scenario to accept, especially in terms of the score and the injured players. During that that game, apart from the first 20 minutes, we were in trouble all the time because of these injuries."
Former Newcastle United midfielder Cabaye was replaced by Adrien Rabiot after just 16 minutes when he suffered a muscular injury.
PSG ended the first half with a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi but centre half Marquinhos was unable to continue for the second due to a thigh injury.
Aurier, who provided the assist for his side's opener, was then stretchered off, before he was joined by Lucas who was also unable to continue, leaving PSG to play the remainder of the game with nine men.
Caen capitalised on a weakened PSG side and scored twice in the final two minutes to rob the champions of their chance to return to the summit of Ligue 1.
France international Matuidi was also taken off at half time for the French champions with some reports also suggesting there is concern over the fitness of veteran full back Maxwell.
David Luiz, who left Chelsea to move to the French capital last summer, is likely to start against his former club after replacing Marquinhos in Saturday's draw.
