Lenovo Vibe S1: Android 6.0 Marshmallow update rolling out to users
Lenovo has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Vibe S1 users just a week after it rolled out the update to Vibe P1 users. As of now the update is rolling out to users in India and should spread to other markets where the phone is available.
The download is reportedly 1.6GB in size. So make sure you are on Wi-Fi while downloading the update else it may be incomplete. India's Lenovo product head Anuj Sharma tweeted the news to announce the rollout.
The Vibe S1 is the fourth Lenovo phone to get the update, the first being the K3 note earlier this year. It was followed by the A7000 receiving the update and just last week the Vibe P1 received the update.
Despite the update being rolled out for these Lenovo models, Motorola devices that are now owned by Lenovo have received swifter updates for its range of devices like the Moto E, Moto G and Moto X. Lenovo on the other hand has been slow in seeding the Marshmallow update to some of its models.
The Vibe S 1 is Lenovo's first smartphone with two front-facing cameras. It also features a 5-inch FHD IPS panel running on a 64-bit 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6752 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The device comes with 32GB of internal memory which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
The update is an OTA one so it should pop up on your screen. In case it does not and you want to check manually for the update, head over to Settings>About Phone>System Updates and check if there is an update available. If not you will just have to be patient.
