Lewisham: Helmet cam captures moment moped gang tries to steal motorbike in high-speed chase
Three masked men are seen trying to knock another motorcyclist off his bike as he tries to escape.
Detectives investigating a gang's bid to steal a motorbike as it was being driven by its owner in south London have released shocking video footage of the attempted robbery captured by the victim's helmet cam.
Three masked men on mopeds are seen ramming into another motorist on his motorbike as they chase him at high speed along a busy road in Lewisham.
They then block and surround the victim before trying to take his keys out of the ignition while hurling abuse at him. They eventually drive off empty-handed.
Police described the suspects as "very aggressive" and said their actions "endangered the safety of other road users, the victim and pedestrians nearby".
The incident happened on the A20 Eltham Road at some point between 1pm and 1.20pm on 24 April.
Officers from the Met Police have appealed for anyone who recognises the suspects featured in the video footage to come forward.
The first suspect is described as a white man, aged in his late teens or 20s. He was wearing a black crash helmet, black balaclava, blue jeans, a black jacket with an "OSX" logo printed on the right sleeve and black/white trainers. He was riding a grey Yamaha T-Max scooter.
The second suspect is described as a white man, of slim build, aged in his late teens or 20s. He was wearing all black bike gear and a black balaclava while riding a white Yamaha XJ6.
The third is described as a white man, aged in his late teens or 20s, with blue eyes, wearing a black Oxford jacket, a black balaclava, blue jeans and black boots. He was riding a black Triumph Street Triple motorbike.
